Historicity
It seems that this temple belongs to the times earlier than the ninth century of the Vikram era. While describing this temple, Jinaprabhasurisvarji said that Bappabhattacharyaji used to come by air route to pilgrimage this place. This is the original place of the Modhera gachchha. Kalikalasarvajna Hemachandrcharya belonged to the Modhera family and this is his birth place. Mahatma Gandhi also belonged to the Modh caste and this is the birth place of his ancestors.
