Historicity
The ancient name of this tirth was Nagahurud. Once it was the capital of Mevar. there is an inscription showing that a temple of Bhagawan Parshvanath was built here in the times of King Samprati. There is an inscription showing that since Acharya Samudrasurishvarji who was well - versed in Scriptures, won the contest of interpreting scriptures, the sangha got the possession of the temple in the fifth century of the Vikram era. Once there were 350 temples here. The evening bells rang simultaneously and it seemed as if gods in devloka were worshipping Prabhu. Today, there is only one temple. There is an inscription showing that the image was installed here on the eleventh day of the month of Magha in the year 1494 of the Vikram era. It is difficult to see such a beautiful and ancient idol elsewhere. This tirth is regarded as the best among the group of five tirths of Mewar.
Other Temples
There are two other temples but they are ruined and there are no idols in them.
Works of art and Sculpture
One hardly happens to see such a large and beautiful idol elsewhere. Its artistry is beyond description. The workmanship of the pillars and the ceiling of old temples is sighty. On the hill in the forest one sees artistic remains of ruined structures.
