Historicity

According to the Digambar sect, this was the land of penance of Acharya Kundakund. He was the pre-eminent Sudhu of the Dravid Sangha. By virtue of his impressive and spiritual life style, he glorified this land and Tamilnadu. This great Sadhu purified every particle of this land. A fair is held here every year on the tenth day of the bright half of the month of Posh. The people of this place begin an auspicious work after praying to him

The Ponnur village is at a distance of 3 kilometers. Bus service and private vehicles are available. Boarding and lodging provisions are there at the foot of the hill.
