Shri Vasupujya Bhagwan
Bhagwan Vasupujya was born in Champapuri to King Vasupujya and Queen Jaya Devi of the Ikshvaku dynasty. His birth radiated purity and spiritual promise, and his symbol is the buffalo, representing strength and calm endurance. Unlike most Tirthankaras, he remained celibate, having completed all karmas related to worldly pleasures in past lives.
In a previous birth, he was King Padmottar, a devout ruler who earned the Tirthankar-nama-gotra-karma through intense penance. As Vasupujya, he renounced royal life and attained Kevalgyan (omniscience) within one month of diksha under the Kadamba tree. His teachings emphasized detachment, truth, and liberation from karmic bondage. He attained moksha at Champapuri, becoming a Siddha, free from the cycle of birth and death.
