Historicity

The name of Udaypur reminds us of brave adventures of the heroic Rana Pratap. This city of Udaypur was settled by Rana Udaysinh and it is surrounded by natural hills on all sides. This city has a population of more than three lakhs of people and there are among them more than 50 thousand Jains. This chief city of Mevad is an important tirth of Jains. Many ancient temples in this city are delightful. On this pinnacled temple of Bhagawan Chanda Parshvanath, there is an inscription, of the year 1325 of the Vikram era. This ancient temple was renovated by Rugnathsinh in the year 1982 of the Vikram era. Glazed tiles on the walls and the painting of clay on the ceiling are attractive. This idol of Parshvanath in Udaypur is also called the Udiyakar Parshvanath.
