Historicity

In the temple, there are inscriptions of the years 1234 and 1236 of the Vikram era. There is an inscription that in the year 1252 of the Vikram era, this temple was renovated and six squares were built by the King of the city of Chandravati. A stepped well (vav) was gifted to the jain Sangha by Shrungardevi. It is called the Lokdev Vav. The inscriptions show that this was a prosperous city in the past. The faith and devotion shown by Kings to this tirth are worth mentioning. A flag is hoisted on the temple every year on the sixth day of the bright half of the month of Magasar.

The ancient sculpture carved on archs and pillars of the temple, are pleasing to see. They remind us of Abu and Delwada.
